WHO WE ARE
SAHR was founded by Natasha Latiff, Muslim Singaporean woman human rights defender and lawyer. She founded SAHR when she was an 18 year old law student in 2008, and it operated as a voluntary student-led movement for 10 years. Today, SAHR is a peer-led network-based organisation, led by HRDs for HRDs. After the Afghanistan crisis, SAHR set up a Coalition on Afghanistan Legal Experts (CALE) with support of Humaira, an Afghan woman human rights defender and lawyer who fled Kabul in 2021. Our programs are managed by our Co-Executive Directors, Sara Bergamaschi and Natasha Latiff.

Our Network
We partner with advocates from all geographies, ethnicities, religions and cultures. Most of them are from conflict countries or the global south and are either legal professionals (judges, lawyers, prosecutors) or human rights defenders. We hope through our partnerships and practice, we demonstrate the grit, perseverance, tenacity and courage to harness organizations and movements to take actions which are truly transformative. Together, we are shifting the existing narratives on sexual violence.
