Building our library of progressive case law from South Asia

Court Judgments, though not often read, can offer often brilliant and insightful interpretations of Islamic law, to protect and promote the rights of women.

To increase the access to such progressive interpretations of Islamic law, we are reviewing and simplifying over 50 landmark judgments in Pakistan, Bangladesh and India on women’s rights in family and criminal law.

We are disseminating these judgments to lawyers in Afghanistan so that they can adopt progressive interpretations of statutory and Islamic law to fight for gender-equitable outcomes. The judgments are now accessible on our website.
